Top 5 Flop Bollywood Remakes of Super Hit Hindi Movies

What is it with a remake of old Bollywood movies? Don’t they find good stories or are they tired of getting inspired by Hollywood, Kollywood, Tollywood, and other movies?

We are sharing the list of the top 5 Hindi films which are remakes of old Hindi films and got bumped at the box office.

Poor box office response to recent remakes has re-flamed the debate of should Bollywood Industry go for remaking old movies or Not. The big question is whether it’s a profitable idea to remake a film?

5 Flop Bollywood remakes that gave chills to Industry

KARZZZ (2008)

Directed by Satish Kaushik, the Remake of the blockbuster movie Karz (1980). Despite adding two more “Z” to get the title neurologically correct, this completely bizarre movie failed to impress viewers.

RGV KI AAG (2007)

Directed by Ram Gopal Verma, Remake of the all-time Blockbuster movie SHOLAY. It is the most disastrous remake of any movie one could ever think of. Even before it hits the screen, it was considered as a FLOP. In short it was like “Sholay Jo bhadak Gaye”.

UMRAO JAAN (2006)

Directed by J P Dutta, Remake of BlockBuster movie Umrao Jaan (1981). Aishwarya along with Junior Bachchan could not recreate the magic of Rekha and Farooq. The movie was a big flop on screen. The saving grace of this remake was, Music and Aishwarya’s gorgeousness, precision in dance movies, elegance, and the ADA which the character of Umrao Jaan needed. Music and Aishwarya couldn't save the remake much and it couldn't survive on screen for many days.

VICTORIA NO. 203 (2007)

Directed by Anant Mahadevan, a remake of the Hindi Comedy movie Victoria No. 203 (1972). Neither movie nor song left any impact on the audience. The movie was not even promoted or advertised. A big blunder, hence this movie remake sank in deep water without any trace.

HIMMATWALA (2013)

Directed by Sajid Khan, a remake of super hit 1980 Himmatwala. Ajay Devgn Tiger stunt and Tamanna Bhatia’s navel show tried hard to woo audiences but failed. Well, Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala gave a nice competition to RGV AAG.

Don’t lose hope as Bollywood Directors are still making remakes of Blockbuster movies and this list is going to grow soon. Stay connected!
